Work description

“Waves (Valovi)” is a sound installation that creates a new atmosphere by interweaving two contexts: the Mediterranean and the mainland, nature and architecture. Throughout the day and into the evening, speakers placed along the Strossmayer Promenade play recordings of sea waves, shaping a new, transcendent ambience. The sound follows a natural rhythm, shifting in intensity and density—from small ripples to large swells. Besides the waves that form the work’s foundation, the installation also layers cicadas, seagulls, and traditional wooden boats (trabakuls).

The installation was co-funded by the City Office for Education, Culture and Sports (Zagreb).
